Empty Vessel by Kelly Clendenning

I am an empty vessel
Love was ripped and pulled from me
Some was given, most was taken
So was it really love?

Love is such a complex word
Is it a feeling or a choice?
Do we choose to love the flaws?
Or are we simply ignoring them?

Will I ever know true love
The one that is pure and kind
The one no human can seem to give
Is this love even possible in a world of chaos?

And yet there are trickles here and there
Love unconditional from a child’s laugh
A warm embrace
Or even the wind in the trees

Perhaps I am not so empty after all
