There are relatively few superstars who rise to the top of this profession—those writers who have the talent, drive, and good fortune to make the right connections at the right times, and are launched into the stratosphere of the writing world. It is wonderful that there are folks like Rowling, King, Riordan, Koontz, and Patterson for us to not only enjoy, but to learn from and aspire to follow. For the rest of us, we can still chase our dreams—but we have to do so at a little slower pace. With the changing landscape of the publishing world, it can be a daunting journey.
